NOW the FAQ's:
Q: If I do not have a credit card what are my options for renting?
A: In a short answer, there are no options. Pre-paid credit cards are not accepted. Debit cards from banks, VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express are accepted for deposit on your book. The card MUST have an expiration date of 12/2010 or later.
Q: If my book is not rent eligible can we make an exception and rent it regardless?
A: Unfortunately no. Titles are examined daily to see if there are changes that we need to make for the upcoming semester.
Q: What if I do not have a credit card to put down for the deposit of the book?
A: Unfortunately, if you do not have a credit card then we cannot rent the book. Think of it like a movie you have to guarantee you will bring it back.
Q: What if I can put cash deposit down on the book?
A: We can only rent with valid credit cards that have expiration dates after 12/2010.
Q: What happens if I miss the return date for my book?
A: You will be charged for the remaining balance of the new book plus a 10% penalty. Please make sure when you are checking out to give the sales associate a VALID email address preferably JSCC email. The bookstore will email you when the return date is coming. Also, we will send reminders via JWEB and have numerous signs and posters around campus reminding you.
Q: If I call a day ahead or same day as the return date and explain that I can not make it in, can I still return?
A: NO, you will need to make arrangements in any possible situation to have the book returned.
Q: The credit card that is holding the book, will it be charged?
A: NO, there are no hidden charges or fees applied unless you miss the return date at that point you will be charged for the difference of the deposit already paid, the remaining balance of the book and the 10% penalty of the new book price fee: $100.00 (New book price) - $50.00 (deposit for initial rental) + $50.00(remaining balance of new book price) + $10.00 (10% penalty fee) = $60.00 to be charged to the card if returned after the due date.
Q: When checking out, can I pay cash or check for the deposit of the book?
A: YES, you can pay any traditional way (cash, check, debit card) you choose, however, a valid credit card with expiration date through 12/2010 will still be required to hold the book otherwise they will have to purchase.

A: The same refund policy will still be in effect. First week 100% refund, next week 75% and so on...

A: NO, there is no buyback value on rental books. Guests who purchase their books at full price can receive a buyback value. If a guest peels the rental sticker off, our computers will recognize the book when it is returned back and it will inform us that it is a rental.
Q: What if I want to purchase the book at the end of the semester?
A: If you do NOT let us know and it goes past the return date you will be assessed the 10% fee along with the difference. AGAIN, no exceptions. Come in at any point in the semester and we can complete the sale transaction for you.
Q: What if I want to rent the title for more than one semester?
A: You will need to bring the book back at the return date designated and re-rent for the next semester. If the title is not on the rent list for the next semester then the difference of the book will need to be paid.
